STOPPING IN PARIS FOR OUR 50TH

This week was quite historical for
us because we celebrated our
50th wedding anniversary.  Of
course we were children when
we got married.  We decided to
celebrate by going to Paris
and other places too!

We actually were driving over to Monroe
City to a little antique mall we like.
There is a cafe next door that we ate at
and on the way we passed first through
the little town of Paris, Missouri.

They have a very old cemetery that
I found very interesting:

Then on down the road we went to
Monroe City to visit the Opera
House Antique Mall and the
attached cafe.

There are some awesome homes
in the area - very old and this
one was sadly in need of help
with vines growing inside the
windows:

You would not believe the large
 selection of great fabric
at this Ben Franklin.  Back
in the day we called it a
"dime store" but of course
prices have gone up a bit
since those days.  I was
amazed at all the fabrics
just waiting for quilt lovers.

Then we hurried back to meet
our family at Red Lobster for
 a little celebration dinner!

What fun Bernideen! I recognize all those places, and homes, etc. We have family, and have had for over a hundred years, in Paris and family in Monroe City. Although none of them are buried at the cemetery you photographed.
Glad you went by the Union Covered bridge, they showed it on the news a while back with the flooding and afraid it was going to float away! So glad you had a great 50th Anniversary!! xoxo

Places like this, are one of the reasons we moved to Missouri. Is it sad that I didn't even realize there were still Ben Franklin stores? The one in my hometown in South Dakota closed about 20 years ago.

Happy 50th to you and your sweetie, Bernideen! Your visit to Paris sounded delightful for the two of you. We have a Paris in Texas, too! How nice to celebrate with your family with a Red Lobster dinner.

Happy Golden Anniversary! What a lovely way to celebrate your 50th anniversary. Red Lobster is one of my favourite restaurants. I love their cheddar biscuits.

P.S. We have a Paris too! It's 30 minutes away from me and has a tea room. I'm hoping to visit it this summer.

Aw, that looks like fun. I'm having two surgeries this summer, so our plans for our 50th in August are a bit squashed, but we plan on a weekend trip also. Love this place...!
