THE WHIPPOORWILL AND THE CUCKOO BRING IN 2017

Now that the New Year is coming,
 two birds have
returned to our house.

We now have our Whippoorwill - Cuckoo Clock back
from the clock shop.  The clock shop works with a
woman who comes from Germany several
times a year to repair Cuckoo clocks so ours
has been at the shop since May waiting I think
for her visit and
finally - done.  I love it!

Someone might remember when I painted this
Shabby Chic in Colorado, however, it never
worked (with our limited knowledge).
We got it at one of the indoor
flea markets in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

The bird on the left is the Whippoorwill and he
tweets his own sound on each quarter hour going
up to to the 4 tweets on the hour.  The Cuckoo
to the right tweets once on the half hour
and then on the hour - however
many according to the time.  Of course there is a gong
accordingly on the hours and 1 at the half hour.

So...........yes,
a whole lot of bird tweeting going on!

Thank you Penny Phillips for the Shabby Chic idea!

My in-laws have a similar clock and I've never cared for it. But NOW I'm hoping they leave it to me. The white makes all the difference! love yours so much. I don't care what people think about painting wooden pieces, I love the white! Can you share what shade that white is?

Your clock is amazing - I love the sound of them. I am so happy she was able to fix it! You really painted it perfectly, too.

Cuckoo! Cuckoo! LOL - now I have that goodnight song from The Sound of Music in my head! ♫ ♪ ♫

Good evening Bernideen, you must be thrilled to have your clock returned to you after so long.
I remember year's ago, when we lived in Germany, we bought my father in law a cuckoo clock, he was over the moon with his clock, but my mother in law found the cuckooing too intrusive, so the cuckoo was disconnected. I felt it was sad to own a cuckoo clock without the enjoyment of hearing the cuckoo.
I love how you have distressed your cuckoo clock and that you can enjoy its unique sound once again.
Have a lovely evening and Happy New Year to you.
Best wishes,
Daphne

We have two cuckoo clocks from the Black Forrest in Germany.
Both have hung in our home from the first year of marriage, and I couldn't imagine not having that wonderful sound everyday :)
Yours is so pretty, I'm happy to know it has been returned to you.
Here's wishing you the Happiest and Healthiest of New Years !
Hugs,
~Jo

Bernideen, your clock is so fun and I love it painted white! I remember seeing Penny do it as well. I have a little one that hubby brought me home from Germany. I would love to paint it white, but I think he would have a heart attack! lol!
hugs,
Jann
