WILD VIOLETS FOR FEBRUARY for "Friends Sharing Tea"

When I was a little girl growing up in Virginia, we always had some wild violets blooming in February.  I would go out to my little round flowerbed and lift the leaves up and there underneath I would see the first signs that spring was coming.......violets.

Who doesn't love violets?  Of course, we don't have violets out there under that Colorado snow right now.  In fact, they bloom quite late here as we have the most snow in March and April and I have seen it in May and people have said over the years it has snowed in June.

There seem to be so many violet motifs on cups and saucers and teapots and linens:

A passion for violets is shared on this
Crown Dorset teapot:

Perhaps it is their contrast against the snow that makes them so lovely:

I imagine you have some memories of violets to share!

Please sit here by the window and reminiscence.

Below right, I have a chocolate pot I have shared
before with some violets on it.

I hope you have a lovely week!  I shall be sharing my post at other blog parties:

Bernideen, I just love your tea table in front of the window. So cozy! Your teapot is really pretty as are all your lovely pieces of china today. I have never seen violets in February because where we live, the Maritimes, we are blanketed in snow until April. But those sweet little posies are a delight to see when they do appear. Thanks for sharing and joining me for tea today.

Blessings,
Sandi

You have the prettiest pieces with violets, Bernideen! I love each and every one. Growing up in Ohio, I re,ever picking little bouquets of violets. There they grew like crazy! Here in Texas, I'm not sure if I've ever seen any. It's probably too hot for them to survive. Today, however, we've had a blanket of ice and our schools are closed!
I hope you had a wonderful birthday!

Oh- I don't even know where to start-this is such a beautiful post. Sweet violets are my very favorite Springtime small flower. I just adore them. We always had them on the farm -they grew wild and I could not wait to pick them for small vases.

YOur table is just GORGEOUS and so is each and every piece you have there. OH MY! I would love to see it in person! xo Diana

Seeing your beautiful violet teawares is inspiring me to try growing some violets this spring!

All of the purples are so pretty. :)

You and Sandi both feature violets today. I think we're thinking spring! Or wishing spring? I have two sets of violet tea ware and I'll have to get them out soon -- one was my mother's and another is handprinted. I may have to have a violet tea!

Hi Bernideen! Love love love the table this week! You have such a great collection of different violet patterns. I don't even know what my favorite is--it might actually be that gorgeous tablecloth! There are no violets yet in my part of Virginia. It's been way to cold and right now we have snow. Hopefully soon! Wild violets grew (and actually still grow) in my parents yard while I was growing up, and were always a sign spring was coming. :)

I would sitting by this beautiful window and sharing memories of violets. I did share on my blog today a memory, not violets though. My violet memory would have to be with my grandfather's violet china. I still treasure the violets and daisies on that china and teacups.

What a beautiful setting and wonderful place to take tea! All of that wonderful sunlight through your windows doesn't allude to how cold it must be considering all the snow! So lovely and cozy!
