Welcome to our Tea Party and reflections on my garden and tea from July of 2009....I hope you love Peter Rabbit and Beatrix Potter because I sure do. Yesterday we actually had a little snow in Colorado Springs so I am still in a garden reflection mode as the garden isn't quite ready yet! I had 5 rose bushes in packaging which I had to bring in the kitchen. When I saw these pictures back in my photos I wanted to bring them forward.
I have baked some lovely "Mrs Rabbit's" Currant Buns
that you can make with your little ones......very easy!
Beatrix would say our table is "perfectly appointed
and delicious"..
Mr. Jeremy Fisher has arrived early....
And other friends.......
And of course Miss Bella, the neighbors momma cat.....
I do so hope you will come for tea says Jeremy........
Recipe for Mrs Rabbit's Currant Buns comes from the ...Peter Rabbit's Cookery Book..now sadly out of print.
This is very easy to make with children...just combine in a medium bowl as follows:
8 oz self rising flour, pinch of salt, 3 oz butter, 2 oz sugar, 1 egg, 2 Tb milk and 2 oz currants Bake at 425 degrees for about 8 - 12 minutes
Watch for browning at 8 minutes Makes 12 buns
Do take time to go out into the garden and have tea with the little ones.....these are memories that will last forever...........I need to share that I no longer have this tea set. I sold it at my shop because I felt I had "too many".

Very sweet with one of my favorite childrens author...
Now this is my kind of tea, so sweet. I am lucky to own this book xoxoxo Clarice
Love this scene! The book is classic with fairy tale-style recipes and it's a fitting part of a wonderland of tea time in the garden with the beehive tea set and the ceramic creatures. --Jason
Oh to have tea parties like yours in the garden Bernideen! I love looking at the pictures you show of them but mine have been all inside. (and I rarely took pictures as most were before blogging)
Hmm, I must bring my teas outside this year.
Thanks for hosting.
Judith
What a lovely idea. A beautiful post too. Hugs!
Fun post Bernideen! Would love to enjoy tea in the garden with you and your little friends!
This was so very very nice - thanks. Yes, it is actually Spring here, but still nippy and supposedly we'll have one more frost, so no annuals can go in yet.
What a lovely garden tea setting. The china is very pretty and the currant buns look delicious.
What a delightful tea party! Mrs. Rabbit's Currant Buns look scrumptious.

Hello Bernideen, Love your tea parties! Your recipes are always delightful.
Lovely post.. Peter Rabbit is a favorite.
What a delightful tea, and I LOVE that tea set! Perfect!
My granddaughters are just getting into Peter Rabbit. The four year old loves the suspense. And the almost 2 years loves the animal illustrations. I love this idea. And love all your blogs, even the "old ones" that I'm still discovering. They are somehow so fitting with me.
Oh Bernideen, I want everything on your tea table!!!! The teapot, cream and sugar and the tray are so darling. The table covering.....I'm swooning over. Thank you for sharing the pretty table for children, but I'd love it, too.
This is just a delight!
I'm sure grown ups would want an invite to this party as well.
I'm such a fan of Beatrix Potter, I will have to look for that cookbook! Everything is just perfect and you have the most charming statuary!
Cheers
Christina
My daughter loved those books and read them all. What a great theme for a tea party!
I just LOVE Peter Rabbit- I always have and I was so hoping one of my kids would love it, too. No luck yet!!! I have all the little books that we read over and over and over when the kids were little. xo Diana
Oh I love it all - and must make that treat for my next tea party. Spring is coming!
Hi Bernideen, thanks for reposting these photos. I'm still in love with your bee teapot and creamer and sugar. The strawberry cloth is one of my favorites and I'd love to share a cup of tea and a scone with you. xo
I love Beatrix Potter and her little world! It's always a pleasure when you have those themed tea parties! I'm keeping the bun recipe. It might be the first one I try when I finally have a normal sized oven!
Hi Bernideen,
I don't remember seeing these sweet pics before. I love the tea time for wee ones and have been planning one with my sister's grandchildren. Your bee teaset is so pretty. I do love visiting you each week. Thank you for hosting Friends Sharing Tea. I am really looking so forward to Tea in the Garden. Have a wonderful week! Karen
I love all the darling critters at your tea!
I'm not sure how to repost an older post but I see comments back as far as 2009, and my own in 2011. How fun to revisit a tea in the garden with Beatrix Potter friends to join us!
Judith:
This post was from 2009. (also reposted in 2011) Sometimes when you are in a time pinch - you can repost an old post to help out. You might want to change some information. Here is what you do:
Go to the top right and click design, then on the left side click posts, Find the post you want to use in your categories and open it there. Next read it carefully to see if you need to change something. When you are done, click on the right Publish On - change the date and the year and the time to represent today. Next, click revert to draft. As you now see it saying draft - click publish and it comes out. Let me know if this works.
Lovely little tea! Thanks for hosting!
Sherry
You have so many guests for tea! I just love your tea adventures! So sweet!

Donna

To be having tea with you there would be a special day! Love the beautiful tea setup and the scenery. I will give that recipe a try when I have my next tea with my nieces. They love to bake stuff. I will look online for that book (sometimes I find things out of print). Thank you for sharing!

This tea is adorable! The bee tea set was a wonderful touch. I'm really looking forward to when it is spring where you live so you can share more springtime teas :). Thanks for hosting.
Oh, how I swoon for all things Beatrix Potter! A lovely teatime and those current buns look delish. I would like to find a gluten free recipe, though. I'll have a Beatrix tea post in May - it's the theme of my Blooming Books Storytime I do monthly at the local garden center. A teatime at home to put me even more in the mood would be perfect!
Joy!
Kathy
