OWL BE - IT'S A COUSIN TO MRS. OLSON'S OWL!

You can't imagine how the winds are blowing right now as I set up this fast and furious post photo shoot.  It is cold - well 38 degrees cold and I was concerned the lovely leaves might be gone if I don't take these photos now.  Last year I saw an owl on Jann Olson's Blog Have A Daily Cup With Mrs. Olson and I thought "Oh - that is so cute"!   So this year I decided to come up with my own shabby chic version.  This was fun!  I plan to make several and I have already modified my pattern for the next one as I am not happy with everything about him (or her?).   Remember that this is my first try.

Some of you know I've been sewing lately having seen my posts on tote bags, pillows, pumpkins, etc.  All these things are perfect for using up old vintage crochet.  Maybe you have something your Mom or Grandmother had and it has holes in it or you just don't use it as it is.  I have a bunch of old crochet collars and cuffs too that I am using. The lower front of this owl has a vintage collar sewn on it.  The background is a piece of Quaker Lace Tablecloth over white burlap.

We have had the most beautiful week - the weather has been very fallish.  The leaves of my Virginia Creeper on my arbour here have turned red this week and soon will be gone.  I was back inside as soon as these photos were taken.  I guess I've become a "whimp" this summer.  But would you believe it is now spitting snow!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Late note:  I have now made 3 owls and am keeping the 3rd one for myself.  The first two I will be selling as I am in a progressive tweak of figuring it out as I go along.

Your owl is so darn cute Bernideen! Good for you to use up scraps and material with holes. We've had rain today and I certainly don't want to see any snow.
Stay warm.

Bernideen, you are so creative! I like his lacy body and button eyes. The leaves are just beautiful. Pity they don't last long. Thanks for sharing at my HOME and have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,
Sandi

Your owl is cute - love your fall vignette on the porch; love the red Virginia creeper. Your autumn tea set is so appropriate for this time of year. I enjoyed your post, Bernideen.

Now that's creative. One day I might just make it to Denver. I love the colour explosion which Autumn brings.

Hope you have a good week

Cute owl Bernideen. I love all of your pretty creations. I just noticed the comment above. My hubby and I visited Colorado Springs on our Honey Moon. He went to high school and collage there. A beautiful place.

Bernideen, just the title of this made me smile. So happy that my owl found it's long lost cousin. lol! Yours turned out every bit as cute as mine. I love the use of the vintage linens! We woke up to snow here last Tuesday. This week is gorgeous again. That's how it always is here. Thanks for sharing your darling owl with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
