SITTING NEAR THE ASPENS FOR "Tea In The Garden"



Hello there blogging friends and welcome to "Tea In The Garden". I have baked some lovely Peaches and Cream Scones so please have a seat here near the aspens and enjoy!  I used the same recipe I have used for Strawberry Scones but switched the strawberries in the recipe to a nice fresh chopped peach!  Of course that Clotted Cream on top is the real thing from England!  So pour yourself a cup of my Black Currant tea and enjoy!









I am sharing a couple of my new  "old" rose plates.  One is under the vase and one with the scones on it.  I recently found 12 of these hand painted Lefton plates at a flea market for about $2.00 each. I decided to sell all my other mix and match plates and most of the mix and match cups and saucers.  I went through my dishes, linens, tea cups and saucers, etc and sold quite a few things. It has been a "refining" process.   Another find was this sweet embroidered topper with pink and green flowers which was a bargain at $6.00.




I loved staying home yesterday and having extra kitchen time to make a casserole for dinner, a jello salad, scones and a chocolate pie.  If you are a working person, you know what I mean.  Of course, time ran out for all the things I wanted to do.  Sewing, gardening, etc.




Summer is winding down here in Colorado.   As you can see I have a lot of shade in my front yard - like a forest really!
  



Peaches and Cream Scone Recipe:
You will need: 2 1/4 cups sifted flour, 1 Tb baking powder, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 Tsp salt, 6 Tbs cold, chopped unsalted butter, 1 cup chopped fresh peeled peach, 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Preheat oven to 425 degrees and cover baking sheet with parchment.
1.  Sift all dry ingredients.
2.  Cut in cold butter with two knives or a kneading cutter.
3.  Stir in whipping cream until dough begins to form and add peaches.
4.  Roll out dough about 3/4" thick onto a floured cloth and cut with a medium size 2 1/2" round scone cutter - Bake for about 12-14 minutes.  I got 16 scones out of this!
5.  Serve with lemon curd, clotted cream, devonshire cream or jam!

Tea in your garden always looks so beautiful Bernideen... I don't believe I have ever tried Black Currant tea... it sounds delish... your flowers still look so pretty... our temps are still at 100 degrees each day, no rain in sight... wishing for Autumn and cooler temps!... my poor flowers are pooping out!... xoxo Julie Marie

The setting by the aspens is beautiful, I love it. Love the new topper and the beautiful teaware. But those scones look amazing. Want one now! I recently came across a recipe for peach scones, so it was already on my mind. Now you tempt me even more. Oh dear!

Your tea setting is lovely and I am wondering if any of your neighbors come over to see what you're doing and maybe get themselves invited to tea ? I would if I looked out my window and saw you setting the table.

The table topper is a real find and such a good price, but more importantly, perfect for your tea table .

Another new table topper, it's as pretty as the rest you have Bernideen. I like the shady coziness where you set your tea table; pink and white is summery and feminine.
There are so many scone recipes and I have many tucked away myself, and what do I do? Make the same recipe over and over! I need to become creative, your peaches and cream sound yummy.

Hi Bernideen, love your outdoor setting. Everything is lovely, right down to those delicious peach scones. I made a peach dessert last week that I shared the recipe today. I still have some peaches. Guess I need to make some delicious scones! Now for the clotted cream, do you make it or buy it? I may be the only dumby who doesn't know. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Hi Jan:
You can buy clotted cream made in England or Devonshire Cream or almost any tea book has recipes for it. Usually whipping cream with sour cream and confectioners sugar. You would love it. This recipe has also posted before with chopped fresh strawberries! Yummy!
