TEA IN THE GARDEN with a Green Tea Honey Cake

Today is TEA IN THE GARDEN so please join me as we take a few moments to enjoy a recipe for Green Tea Honey Cake:

Remember that a couple years ago I cut up my grandmother's pillowcases and also old table cloths and made 24 sets of chair covers for folding chairs for a tea event in my backyard.  This morning I got 4 of those out and set up tea. If you are interested in making these yourself- check out my past posts:

and also: http://bernideensteatimeblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/making-chair-covers-from-old-vintage.html

also....this recipe came from Sheri at Tea At Primrose Hill

She has many great recipes you would enjoy making for your family!

For the recipe for the tea cake (in the truest sense of the word) I used 4 Stash organic MerryMint green teabags!  The honey and the mint flavors came through nicely!

Mr. Peter Rabbit was so happy to have company in the garden!

Hi Bernideen,
the pretty chair covers make the whole szenery very romantic. And with the china on the table it is wonderful. Your cake looks very interesting. I can imagine the wonderful scent and the taste. And I can see how Mr. Peter Rabbit smiles. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tea time and for hosting this sweet event.
Best greetings, Johanna

Your garden is so beautiful and I just love the chair covers you made. They are really unique. Your little 'tea in the garden' is so welcoming and that cake looks delicious. Oh yes, did I mention how delightful that tea-pot and matching cups are? Sweet, sweet, sweet. Deb

Hello Bernideen
A good way to repurpose old pillowcases and they look elegant over the backs of the chairs.
I may have to try this cake too, readers have been saying how much they like your QV sponge cake.

What a beautiful Tea! I was so glad to see your unique chair covers again. I think they are amazing and would love to make some like those myself when I get the time. Your teapot with the birds is sweet and your dishes have such a soft lovely coloring to them. The whole scene is so relaxing. Thank you for hosting. Also, do you have any tips why my picture never stays when I post!

Your table is just gorgeous! Love seeing the old linens used and repurposed. I have a bunch of old pillowcases, but I used them on the bed. When they wear out I cut them us and make gift bags for special gifts to friends.

Bernideen, I'm so sorry about the hail! We very seldom get that here in June.
Your chairs are so charming and the tea table, a delight to the eyes! Wonderful looking cake and the posies make it look so elegant; yum! It has rained here all week so no outdoors pictures for me. My lilacs are from the garden though so I hope my post is OK. Thanks for hosting and have a lovely day.

Blessings,
Sandi
