This morning it was past the time that I needed to leave for work. I had been taking advantage of our impending warm day to water my garden and back yard. Over the years I have lost so many perennials because I didn't understand how important winter watering was in Colorado!
Actually, there was more to being late - I was finishing the last bit of "Blood Orange Brewing" which is Laura's Child's #7 Tea Shop Mystery Book. Two years ago, I first read the "Teaberry Strangler" and then went back to start from the beginning of the series. Then, last summer I got bogged down with "The Jasmine Moon Murder" which is #5.
Just recently, I opened the mail to find a copy of "Agony of the Leaves" which is #13. Laura had sent me an unproofed copy so of course, I had to read it. Then, I thought I should go back to "The Jasmine Moon Murder" which I found I remembered little about after this time had passed. So.....I started it over and finished it. In the last two weeks I have read "Chamomile Mourning" and "Blood Orange Brewing".
This great spot above - is a fireplace in my shop and it is so cozy! I have to tell you that so far my favorite mystery is "Blood Orange Brewing". And my favorite scene? Well, Delaine Dish leans against the wall of the old Augustus Chait House and accidently pushes a secret wall panel open, causing her to fall in getting trapped in cobwebs and musty darkness. This is the Queen of Glamor- Delaine Dish- owner of the Cotton Duck Boutique and Theodosia Browning soon joins her by falling in the same way. This scene is hilarious!
Have you read any of Laura Child's 13 books that are the Tea Shop Series?(she has other series such as Quilt ones) You will love these friendly books which take you to Charleston, South Carolina's Indigo Tea Room. The cast of Theodosia Browning and her employees Drayton and Haley are terrific. I can't forget Detective Tidwell and Delaine Dish!

And now I'm on to #8 Dragonwell Dead........
