TERRITORY DAYS COMES TO OLD COLORADO CITY !

Members of the Gold Canyon Gunfighters (ABOVE) stopped in for a visit! This weekend we celebrate "Territory Days" when Old Colorado City was the capitol of the territory before Colorado was a state!

SUNDAY CELEBRATION AND FACING THE CHALLENGE OF LOSS !

Have you ever met anyone who hasn't suffered some sort of loss along the journey of life? Of course you have - everywhere! When this comes our way, what do we do about it?  How do we react?  How do we handle the disapointing loss. Obviously, some losses are large and some are small.  Like breaking a family antique vase compared to loosing a spouse or loved one.

Tomorrow is my 42nd anniversary.  Last Sunday I suddenly realized the diamond was missing from my wedding ring - plain old gone - history - sharp prongs sticking up empty -  nowhere to be found!  Then I couldn't get the band off so I had to have it cut off.  As I drove home my husband and I discussed all the losses we DON'T have!  We don't have cancer.  We don't have to sleep outside tonight. We aren't cold or hungry.  No one has died. This list went on a long time.

I decided to focus on all the good things I have - I am blessed beyond measure!  There is so much to be thankful for!  Iknow that I am truly blest!

Matthew 6:19 - 20a Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroys and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven....

PINK SATURDAY PINK PILLOW COVER FROM GERMANY! THANK YOU JOHANNA !

Today is the 2nd ANNIVERSARY FOR PINK SATURDAY in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness!  I have been participating since about July of 2008 and I don't think I have missed a single Saturday!

WELCOME TO PINK SATURDAY AND SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT FOR ME! I am usually doing tea party stuff here! But here goes something different....

To link to other Pink Saturday participants...go to http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/

One of the great things about blogging is the great people you meet around the world....take for example Johanna from Germany who can be found at her blog at Silber + Roses at
http://silber-rosen.blogspot.com/ !  Please visit her and say hello!

This week she helped me by telling me what this old antique pillow cover says.....it is written in German so I really never knew what it said until now! I have had it for many years and I e-mailed her a note and photo and she responded!

She told me that it offers advice and  wisdom for a couple:

                      "Protect each other against grief/sorrow.
Short is the time which you are together."

"Although many years will unite you,
Once they will seem to you like minutes."

My mother-in-law gave this to me many years ago.  She was adopted as a baby in Illinois by people who had come from Germany.  At Christmas, I  showed the nativity set she gave me from Germany that is over 100 years old.  My mother-in-law is now 92 years old herself!

The cover is on a guest room antique bed.....

Happy Pink Saturday to you all!

I AM NEVER AFRAID TO CHANGE THINGS !

I am never afraid to move something when I don't like it.  I have had 2 topiarys next to my patio which have grown larger over 15 years.  I recently realized they are obstructing the view of the garden.  I DECIDED IT IS TIME TO MOVE THEM!  My husband is  shall we say "not as adventuresome" as I am and felt they would die if we moved them.  I figured it was worth a try!  So here they are in a new location and also some little boxwoods in between them! I plan on watering them every day.

I took this photo through my upstairs screen window this morning...

I also have some neighbors in the birdhouse I hung on the door going into the garden....can you see her peeking out the hole?

My back yard isn't very big but I want it to be an escape place!  I call it my Beatrix Potter Tea Garden because of the cast stone characters there:  Mrs. Tabitha Twitchit, Mr. Jeremy Fisher, Peter Rabbit and soon to arrive, Jemima Puddle-Duck!

IT'S TEA TIME TUESDAY AGAIN !

Early this morning we were out in the garden early.......

Everything was quiet in the garden....the squirrels were busy eating...we spoil them with walnuts...all 8 squirrels......yes I count them every morning.  Actually, when we get up at 6:30 AM there are always 1 or 2 waiting at the back door.  When I open the door I have to stop them from coming in the kitchen.  Have you ever heard that song "The Day the Squirrel Came to Church"? I can tell you I don't want a squirrel running around my house!

The pansy coffee pot was being used for tea...no one seemed to mind this!

I hope you all have a lovely Tea Time Tuesday!

Off in the distance to the left Mr. Jeremy Fisher sunned himself...

Some lovely Victorian Costume Jewelry had been laid out to honor her majesty...
