The Legend of the Valentine



The first valentine was sent in the third century by a young Roman named Valentinus. He was imprisoned for aiding Christian martyrs.  The Emperior Claudius II sentenced him to death. According to legend, as he awaited execution, he befriended the jailers daughter who was blind and through his faith and prayer - her sight was restored.  On the night before his execution, he sent her a note and signed it - "From your Valentine" ....
