Getting some Holiday Cooking Ideas from Williams Sonoma!

Yesterday we had a small blizzard and most of the stores in Old Colorado City stayed closed. I spent the day reading behind my counter- hardly anyone came in the door.
Do you know about Chuck Williams who began his first Williams Sonoma back in 1956? There are now over 235 stores nationwide. I just got three new cookbooks that you will love:

With the holidays coming these books are wonderful! The first one here "Thanksgiving Entertaining" shows you how easy it is to bake Brie and cover it with dried fruits. You have all heard this but few of us actually do it! Easy! The book offers everything you need to know about preparing your turkey too!
There is a wonderful recipe for Cheddar Chive Biscuits you must bake! As you look inside this cookbook you will find 4 types of Thanksgiving Meals and one will be your style for sure!
The next book is "Thanksgiving"......

For a long time I have been wanting to do "Bacon Wrapped Figs" for an appetizer. I must confess to you that I have never made them but herein are all the directions.
And have you ever made a steamed pudding? The instructions show you how to make Steamed Cranberry Pudding and homemade Rum Brandy Ice Cream...I have an old antique ice cream maker in the basement so this is timely!

This cookbook also has recipes for 4 dressings and some lovely stuffed mushrooms with crab and almonds. These caught my eye for sure!

The last book is "Christmas" and also has a steamed pudding with the same instructions. This one is Persimmon Cranberry Pudding! Also, another stuffed mushroom recipe for an appetizer.
After spending the day flipping the pages of these 3 cookbooks - I highly recommend them for the holidays!

Never Too Many Tea Books! #3

We often play the soothing music from Afternoon Tea Serenade in my store. I have personally made many of the recipes from this combination cookbook and CD. Just knowing you are baking scones using a recipe from Harrod's is really fun!

Bruce Richardson's Great Tea Rooms of America and Great Tea Rooms of Britain are full of beautiful photos and recipes to match! I especially enjoy all the information about the Maids of Honor Tarts. From the original Victoria Books, The Art of Taking Tea is now printed in paperback. Taking Tea with Alice is full of ideas for your next children's tea party.

Never too Many Tea Party Books! #2

Perhaps you are looking for a book that digs deep into all the different types of tea, herbals, where tea comes from and scientific data about teas.........here it is:
This week I am featuring some of my favorite tea books that I carry at my store..... Elizabeth Knight has done extensive research for this book about Celtic Teas....since my birth father had a Welsh name I was very interested.......and you will love all the background she has found about these countries and the traditions of tea.

I had mentioned this book, "Afternoon Tea" a week or so ago - the pictures of each dish are very helpful.....I am glad this is back in print again!

Nan Taylor, a tea speaker and expert from California has this book full of information and suggestions for various types of tea groups, plus recipes, plus, plus, plus!

Never too many Tea Party Books! #1

My passion is clear - I love Tea Party Books! As I read different tea blogs I can quickly tell the blogger's first love....mine is the table settings and tea pots for the Tea Party. Yes, I love the setting up for Afternoon Tea....and I love the books with ideas for that! I visited a blog a number of times that combined tea with politics. I thought, wow, this isn't for me. I don't want to hear about arguing over politics at the same time as something I love as much as tea parties.
Tracy Stern has written a wonderful book with ideas for tea parties...different seasonal party ideas, bridal party ideas...you name it!

The Charms of Tea is an old Victoria Magazine Book now in paperback with beautiful photos and inspiration!

Full of information about tea, this book also has recipes and great tips on tea! More to follow.........

Harvest Time Decorating

Don't we just love the colors of fall! A lady told me this week she wants fall colors in heaven!

I love getting my decorations out early but by Thanksgiving I am ready to move on..........
We have snow coming in tonight so we will be firing up our woodstove for sure!

I don't know if it is cold yet where you live but the top of Pikes Peak has a fresh layer of snow!

Tea Quote

From 365 Things Every Tea Lover Should Know:
This is a unique tea quote: Want your feet to smell fresh? Tea is a natural astringent and the tannic acid will help kill bacteria. Soak your feet in black tea for great results.

I am so glad to see the 1992 edition of this great tea book is back in print! Each recipe gives you 4 visual photos to walk you through preparation of finger sandwiches, savories, scones and muffins, cakes, etc. This book cost $12.95 and is a must have for lovers of Afternoon Tea.

I was so glad to see the recipes for "maids of honor" tarts, crumpets and honey madeleines. You can enjoy them all!
