Time for Texas Turtles!

If you have a chocolate shop near you it is hard to walk by and not buy something! Fudge? How about a Texas Turtle!

So easy to make at home....
First of all you need to own a double boiler pot set. It doesn't have to be an expensive one - go to a discount store and buy one because you will use it a lot if you learn to make your own puddings, candy, etc.

YOU WILL NEED: 1 lb. Kraft caramels, 1 Tb water and 3 cups of chopped pecans
For the chocolate coating: 1lb chocolate chips and 1/8 lb paraffin
also more pieces of pecans if you like them on top the chocolate - another 1/2 cup

Melt caramels in top of double boiler with 2 Tb water. Add pecans and stir. Drop by loaded teaspoons onto a butter greased cookie sheet. Chill 1/2 hour in the freezer or overnight in the refrigerator.

Melt 1 lb milk chocolate chips with 1 oz paraffin in top of the double boiler.

Dip caramel pieces in this mix one at a time and return to cookie sheets to cool. Store in an airtight container. Makes 36.

OMG! I just figured out who you are! I'm so excited. I have lived in CA all my life but my sister moved to CO for 5 years and I would go visit her often. Your shop is the one place I ALWAYS had to go to! I have tea cups, books, wreaths and a lap from your shop.

She moved back to CA and I so miss my visits to your shop. I'm so happy to find you in blogland now.

Those turtles look so good. I'm going to make them and I'll think of you and your sweet shop the whole time I'm eating them.

I can't wait to tell my sister I found your blog!

Hugs,
Joanne
