Loosing your mind or loosing a recipe?

Have you lost anything lately? I wasted volumes of time last week looking for a recipe given to me about 12 years ago. Teresa Roberts who now lives in Nebraska gave me a wonderful recipe for Apple Cranberry Pie. I made it many times and of course I have other recipes that are similar but I have been obsessed with finding THAT RECIPE and battling denial that I could have possibly loss something I valued. I've gone through every file, recipe box and recipe retrieval spot I can think of repeating the search over and over. I keep thinking it will just "fall" out of some file or cookbook. No such luck! Get on with it Bernideen....forget it! Get over it.............oh.............wait a minute.......maybe I put it..............

Yes, I seem to be wasting lots of time looking for things because I can't remember where I put them. Frustrating, isn't it?!? My friends all say the same thing is happening to them which is a bit comforting to me. *LOL*

I was having a few guest and words gets around when you live in a small community. Everyone is wanting to come. lol I am thinking on doing several tables in parlor, dining, and family room as they all connect, and do a theme on each tabe. All food in the dining on the side boards and buffet. My list is at 25 now. I am in a little panic, not sure how many guest are going to show up! lol

I do it all the time. How often have I tried a recipe from a book or magazine, forgotten to make a note of it, and then can never find it again. I suppose they are all in a safe place. ;-)

It's so comforting to know I'm not the only one who does this! I searched high and low to find a particular toffee candy recipe a few weeks back, and once I found it and made it, I realized it was the wrong one. Aargh!

During the Christmas holidays, my daughter-in-law brought me new pictures of my little grandson and granddaughter they had just had professionaly made. The photos were so beautiful, just precious. I declare that I put them in a safe place, out of the holiday chaos. But, now, I cannot remember where. My dear husband and I have turned our house upside down to no avail. I have been quite broken hearted about it, and finally got the nerve to tell my daughter-in-law the other day. She laughed and took it well. I am praying the pictures turn up. I'm not giving up.

Yes! Last week I lost my weeks-worth of meals I had made up. It was a list of what we're having, with what side dishes. I went crazy looking for it. Finally, thursday my DH found it near his computer. How did it get there? Who knows, but it felt terrible doing all that work and then loosing it!

I hope you find your recipe from your friend. Those older recipes are always De-Li-ci-ous!
Patricia :o)

Oh Bernideen, I do hope that you find your recipe. A few years ago I made up my own recipe book with a 3 ring binder. In it is my favorite recipes that I make and love. I only have recipes that I have made in it. I also made up another 3 ring binder with all of the phone numbers for my utility companies, doctors, dentist, family members and insurance company numbers along with the policy numbers should I ever need it.
I hope you find your recipe!
Hugs,
Angela

oh, Bernideen, I am laughing! I thought I was the only one! You should see my bookshelf of nothing but cookbooks! Really, I often ask myself does one person need all these cookbooks & pages torn from magazines & printouts from online recipes! But I say YES, much to my husband's dismay. LOL. Now if I would COOK some of the recipes! ;)
Hugs,
Sheri

Isn't that frustrating. I do the same thing. My recipes look like yours. I keep saying I will get organized and do so for awhile, but then it all goes out the window. Thanks for sharing.

Bernideens says: No matter how organized you are - you will loose some stuff! Face it - this is reality!
